Is Santa a harmless tradition or a distraction from the true meaning of Christmas?

Nov 29, 2024

Hey there,

So what do we do with Santa?!? Yes, he's fun and many of us have some really special memories from our own childhoods tied to the guy, but at the same time he can become a big distraction to the real meaning of Christmas. Are we lying to our kids if we tell them Santa's real or are we just having some fun with a surprise? What role should Santa play in our celebration of Christmas? That's exactly what this week's video sets out to address:

This is an often debated topic in the Christian community, and so often we reduce this argument down to simplistic terms of "Yes Santa" or "No Santa". In this video, I get away from this.

Instead, I'll help you rethink your entire Christmas celebration with 5 basic questions you can ask yourself so that this Christmas you start passing on to your children traditions and memories that will grow and deepen their faith in Jesus. Once you have these 5 questions answered, you'll know what to do about Santa too so that your children will look back at their childhood Christmas memories with fondness and gratitude.

No matter where you are in your parenting (or where you are on the Santa issue), take a look at this video. I guarantee that these 5 questions (and some of the other ideas I share) will get you thinking of some new ways you can celebrate Christmas and pass your faith on to the next generation no matter how young or old they are.

So go take a look. You'll be so glad you did.

All my best,

B.J.
